“Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us.”

THE THINGS THAT ARE NOT SIN
Scripture distinguishes between sin and weight.
Some things are plainly wrong and must be left behind. Others may not be evil at all. They are simply too heavy for the race God has placed before us.
A responsibility that belongs to someone else.
An explanation offered long after the listener has decided not to understand.
A role that was faithful in a former season.
The imagined verdicts of people who are not present.
The need to prove that your calling is reasonable before you obey it.
A tool may serve its purpose and still become a burden when the work changes. Wisdom is knowing when something useful no longer belongs in your hand.
OPEN YOUR GRIP
Pilgrims learn the difference between carrying what is necessary and carrying what is familiar.
Familiar weight can feel like identity. After holding it long enough, an empty hand may feel irresponsible. Yet Christ did not call you to demonstrate strength by dragging every former burden into the next season.
He called you to follow Him.
Hold your hands open before God this morning.
Name what has grown heavy.
Ask whether it has been assigned to you, whether its season has ended, or whether fear has simply kept your fingers closed around it.
You do not honor God by carrying what He has asked you to release.
Lay it down without ceremony. The road does not need an explanation. It only needs room for your next step.
PRAYER
Father, show me the difference between faithfulness and needless weight.
Give me courage to release what is sinful, what is finished, and what was never mine to carry. Keep me from building an identity around burdens Christ has already removed.
Make my hands free for the work You are giving me now.
Amen.
BENEDICTION
May your shoulders forget the weight that did not belong to them.
May your hands open without fear.
And may you discover that Christ is sufficient company for the road ahead.
