DAWN WATCH 096: CHOOSE THE DIRECTION OF PEACE

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 096

SCRIPTURE

“Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.”

Psalm 34:14 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL

Peace is sometimes imagined as the place we will arrive once everyone else changes.

The psalm gives us something more immediate to practice: turn from evil, do good, seek peace, and pursue it. These verbs place responsibility within our own conduct before they promise anything about another person’s response.

Ask where your choices can move toward peace today. A truthful clarification may prevent resentment. An apology may end your defense of a careless act. Refusing to repeat a harmful story may stop a conflict from acquiring another audience.

Seeking peace does not mean hiding wrong or abandoning a necessary boundary. It means choosing a way of acting that serves truth and human dignity. Begin with the part that is yours, without making another person’s cooperation the condition for your integrity.

INSIGHT

The pursuit of peace begins in conduct we can choose, even when outcomes remain shared.

REFLECTION

What choice of yours could move a situation toward peace?

What truth or boundary needs to remain clear as you do so?

PRAYER

Lord, direct my conduct toward peace. Give me courage for truth, humility for repair, and restraint where my words could enlarge a conflict. Amen.

BENEDICTION

Choose the direction of peace.

Begin with the conduct entrusted to you.
