EVENING EMBERS 086: REPAIR WHAT THE WORDS LEFT
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 086
SCRIPTURE
“Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:”
James 1:19 (KJV, excerpt)
DEVOTIONAL
When the room grows quiet, our words sometimes return to us.
You may remember an interruption, a tone, or an assumption spoken as fact. You may also remember a moment when patient listening made room for someone else. Review the day without turning it into a trial of your entire worth.
Where you caused harm, let regret become a specific repair. An apology can name what you said and its effect without asking the other person to manage your embarrassment. If the hour is too late, decide when you will reach out.
Where you listened well, give thanks for grace at work. Then release the conversations you cannot finish tonight. Growth in speech is practiced over many ordinary exchanges, one truthful repair and one patient hearing at a time.
INSIGHT
Honest reflection turns regret toward repair instead of endless self-accusation.
REFLECTION
Does a conversation need a specific apology or follow-up?
Where did patient listening make a difference today?
PRAYER
Father, forgive my careless words and guide the repairs that are mine to make. Thank You for every moment You helped me listen with love. Give me a quieter heart tonight. Amen.
BENEDICTION
Let honesty prepare the repair.
Leave the unfinished conversation with God.
