DAWN WATCH 011 - FILL THE JARS
Obedience often looks ordinary before Christ reveals its place.

WORK THAT SEEMS UNRELATED
The wine ran out at Cana.
Mary pointed the servants toward Jesus, and Jesus told them to fill six stone jars with water.
The servants carried water.
They made trip after trip, lifting the weight and pouring it into vessels meant for ceremonial washing. Nothing about the work resembled the problem. Empty wine cups remained on the tables while the servants hauled water across the room.
Still, they filled the jars to the brim.
The miracle entered through obedience that appeared ordinary and, for a time, unrelated.
We often hesitate because the small thing Christ has placed before us does not resemble the outcome we are asking Him to produce. We want to understand how the water becomes wine before we agree to carry the bucket.
But the servants were not responsible for transformation.
They were responsible for filling the jars.
WHAT HAS HE ALREADY SAID?
Obedience is not a lever that forces God to perform a miracle. It is how we remain near His work.
What has Christ already made plain?
Forgive.
Tell the truth.
Serve without being noticed.
Keep your word.
Ask for help.
Attend to the person standing before you.
Rest when the work has become an attempt to prove your worth.
The instruction may seem too small for the need. Do it faithfully anyway. Fill what has been placed before you. Leave the changing of its substance to Christ.
Your task is not to manufacture wine.
Your task is to carry the water without abandoning the work halfway to the jar.
PRAYER
Jesus, free me from the need to understand everything before I obey You.
Show me the plain instruction already before me. Give me humility for ordinary work and endurance to fill the jar completely.
What I cannot transform, I place in Your hands.
Amen.
BENEDICTION
May your hands remain faithful in ordinary work.
May no small obedience be despised.
And may Christ meet you beside the jars you were willing to fill.
