DAWN WATCH 029: BEGIN WITH MERCY
SUNDAY, AUGUST 23, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 029
SCRIPTURE
“Satisfy us in the morning with your loving kindness, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.”
Psalm 90:14
DEVOTIONAL
The day has not asked anything of you yet.
Before the messages, the errands, the decisions, and the noise, there is this prayer: satisfy us with Your mercy.
We often begin by reaching for usefulness. We measure the day by what must be completed and wonder whether we will be enough for it. But the psalm begins somewhere deeper. It asks God to meet the hunger beneath the schedule.
Mercy is not a reward waiting at the end of a productive day. It is provision given at the beginning.
Receive before you achieve. Let the first truth of this morning be that you are held by a love you did not earn and cannot exhaust.
INSIGHT
What satisfies us first will quietly govern what we seek from the rest of the day.
REFLECTION
What are you already asking this day to prove about you?
What would change if mercy, rather than accomplishment, became your starting place?
PRAYER
Father, meet me before the day makes its demands. Satisfy the hunger beneath my striving with Your steadfast love. Let mercy become the ground beneath everything I do. Amen.
BENEDICTION
Begin with what cannot be earned.
Mercy is already here.
