DAWN WATCH 037: ASK WITHOUT SHAME
MONDAY, AUGUST 31, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 037
SCRIPTURE
“But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him.”
James 1:5
DEVOTIONAL
Not knowing can feel like failure.
We want to begin the day certain—certain of the right decision, the right words, the right road. When clarity does not come, we may hide our uncertainty beneath motion and call it confidence.
James offers a gentler response: ask God.
God does not reproach you for needing wisdom. He does not say you should have known already. The lack itself becomes an opening for relationship.
Bring Him the decision before you decorate it with false certainty. Wisdom may arrive as a clear answer, a needed delay, wise counsel, or enough light for one faithful step.
INSIGHT
Our lack of wisdom is not an embarrassment to hide but a need God welcomes us to bring.
REFLECTION
Where are you pretending to know more than you do?
What question needs to be asked plainly before God?
PRAYER
God, I lack wisdom, and I ask without disguise. Give me light for the decision before me, humility to receive counsel, and patience when the answer unfolds slowly. Amen.
BENEDICTION
Ask without shame.
God is generous with light.
