DAWN WATCH 039: WATCH FOR THE NEW THING
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 039
SCRIPTURE
“Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs out now. Don’t you know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”
Isaiah 43:19
DEVOTIONAL
New things do not always arrive loudly.
A spring begins beneath the ground. A road first appears as a direction through land that had no visible path. God may already be working in a place you have labeled barren.
Watching is not wishful thinking. It is disciplined attention to the possibility that the wilderness is not the end of the story.
Look again at what has felt closed. Do not force a sign or manufacture optimism. Simply leave room for God to be more active than your discouragement can see.
INSIGHT
Hope does not deny the wilderness; it watches for the God who can make a road through it.
REFLECTION
Where have you assumed nothing new can happen?
What small sign of life deserves your attention this morning?
PRAYER
God, sharpen my eyes for the new thing You are doing. Keep me honest about the wilderness and open to the road or river only You can provide. Amen.
BENEDICTION
Watch without forcing.
Something may already be springing up.
