Dawn Watch 004 - Courage For The Middle Miles
Beginning requires courage. Continuing requires a quieter and often deeper kind.
“Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid.”
JOSHUA 1:9
AFTER THE BEGINNING
The beginning of a journey carries its own energy.
There is movement, possibility, and the clean feeling of having finally left what was familiar. But the middle miles feel different. The excitement settles. The road becomes repetitive. The destination still cannot be touched.
This is where many good intentions are buried.
Not because the traveler chose the wrong road, but because ordinary faithfulness did not feel significant enough to continue.
God’s command to be courageous is not reserved for battlefields and public moments. Courage may be required to rise again, repeat the discipline, honor the boundary, keep the promise, and perform the unseen work for another day.
Some victories arrive without applause.
They look like consistency.
STRENGTH UNDER COMMAND
Biblical courage is not the belief that nothing difficult will happen.
It is the conviction that God remains present when it does.
You do not need to create courage by tightening every muscle in your soul. Courage grows as attention moves away from the size of the obstacle and returns to the nearness of God.
He has not sent you into this day while remaining safely behind.
He goes with you into the work, the uncertainty, the temptation, the conversation, and the long middle stretch where progress is difficult to measure.
The command is not merely, “Be strong.”
It is, “Be strong, because I am with you.”
PRAYER
Father, give me courage for the ordinary middle.
Keep me faithful when there is no visible breakthrough and no immediate reward. Deliver me from confusing excitement with calling or difficulty with failure.
Strengthen my hands for the work before me. Let me continue without drama, complaint, or fear.
You are with me here.
Amen.
BENEDICTION
Be strong and continue.
The quiet miles are not wasted. I see the obedience no one celebrates and the resistance no one knows you had to overcome.
You are not walking unnoticed.
I am with you wherever you go.
