MIDDAY BEARINGS undefined: DO NOT OUTRUN THE PRESENCE
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 045
SCRIPTURE
“My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
Exodus 33:14
DEVOTIONAL
Hurry can move the body faster than the soul can follow.
By midday, the list may have taken command. You move from task to task while inwardly losing contact with the One for whom the work is being done.
God’s promise to Moses was not merely that He would meet him at the destination. His presence would go with him.
Slow down enough to become present to the Presence. One breath. One honest prayer. One task done without racing mentally into the next five. The work may remain urgent, but urgency does not have to become your lord.
INSIGHT
We can complete God-given work while becoming inattentive to the God who gave it.
REFLECTION
Where has hurry separated your body from your attention?
How can you return to God in the task already in your hands?
PRAYER
Lord, I have hurried ahead inwardly. Gather my scattered attention. Help me work at the pace of faithfulness and remain aware that You are with me. Amen.
BENEDICTION
Do not outrun the Presence.
God is here in this task.
