MIDDAY BEARINGS 052: LET THE REQUEST BECOME PRAYER
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 052
SCRIPTURE
“In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6–7
DEVOTIONAL
A worry repeated internally is not always the same thing as a prayer.
The mind can circle a need for hours without once placing it into God’s hands. It rehearses the problem, predicts outcomes, and calls the repetition responsibility.
Pause long enough to turn the circle into a request. Say what you need. Give thanks for one mercy already present. Then release the demand to control how the answer must arrive.
The circumstances may not change by afternoon, but the burden has changed hands.
INSIGHT
Prayer gives anxiety a direction: instead of circling the self, the burden moves toward God.
REFLECTION
Which concern has been circling in your mind?
What is the clear request hidden inside it?
PRAYER
God, I turn this repeated worry toward You. Here is what I need. Here is what I fear. Thank You for the mercy already present. Carry what I cannot govern. Amen.
BENEDICTION
Let the worry become a prayer.
The burden has somewhere to go.
