EVENING EMBERS - 017: THE QUIET WORK OF TRUST

Tuesday • August 11, 2026

“Be still, and know that I am God.”
— Psalm 46:10

THRESHOLD

Tonight, notice what stillness reveals.

THE REFLECTION

Noise can hide what the soul is carrying.

The constant movement.

The constant checking.

The constant solving.

The mind often believes that if it stops moving, something important will be missed.

But God is not discovered through panic.

The prophet Elijah found that the Lord was not in the wind, the earthquake, or the fire.

Then came the quiet voice.

Stillness is not emptiness.

It is the place where control loses its grip and trust has room to breathe.

Tonight, do not measure your relationship with God by how much you accomplished.

Measure it by whether you remained near.

The quiet work of trust is still work.

Roots grow in silence.

Seeds break open beneath the soil.

God often moves where human eyes cannot yet see.

REFLECTION

What noise has made it difficult for me to notice God’s presence?

What would it look like to be still before Him tonight?

PRAYER

Father,

Quiet what needs to be quieted in me.

Teach me that stillness is not wasted time.

Help me trust the work You are doing beneath the surface.

I release the need to see every movement.

I rest in knowing You are present.

Amen.

BENEDICTION

Receive this scriptural encouragement:

Be still.

Not because nothing is happening.

Be still because I am working beyond what you can see.

The roots are growing.

The seed is alive.

Remain with Me.
