MIDDAY BEARINGS 042: REMEMBER HIS BOUNTY
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 042
SCRIPTURE
“Return to your rest, my soul, for Yahweh has dealt bountifully with you.”
Psalm 116:7
DEVOTIONAL
Bounty is not always abundance in the form we expected.
Sometimes it is enough strength for one difficult conversation. Sometimes it is the friend who stayed, the door that closed, the conviction that interrupted a harmful path, or the daily bread that arrived without spectacle.
The psalmist tells the soul to rest because Yahweh has dealt bountifully with it. Memory becomes evidence against the claim that we have always been alone.
Before this week disappears, name the forms of provision that were easy to overlook. Gratitude does not require calling pain good. It recognizes that pain did not receive the whole field.
INSIGHT
Gratitude gives mercy its rightful place in an honest account of the road.
REFLECTION
What provision arrived in an ordinary form this week?
What did difficulty almost cause you to overlook?
PRAYER
Yahweh, give me a truthful account of this week. Keep me from romanticizing hardship or forgetting mercy. Thank You for every form Your provision took. Amen.
BENEDICTION
Give mercy its full account.
Difficulty was not the only thing here.
