EVENING EMBERS - 020: REMEMBER THE STONES

Friday • August 14, 2026

“Take twelve stones from here out of the middle of the Jordan… so that this may be a sign among you.”
— Joshua 4:3,6

THRESHOLD

Before the week closes, remember what God has carried you through.

THE REFLECTION

God knows the weakness of human memory.

Not because we forget facts.

Because we forget faithfulness.

Israel crossed the Jordan.

The miracle happened.

The waters stopped.

The people moved forward.

But God told them to collect stones.

Why?

Because there would come a day when the children would ask:

“What do these stones mean?”

Memory would become testimony.

The same is true for us.

The soul needs reminders.

The prayer that was answered.

The door that closed for protection.

The strength that arrived when your own strength ran out.

The moment you thought you were finished but found God was not.

Tonight, gather your stones.

Not physical stones necessarily.

Remember.

Write them down.

Speak them aloud.

Build reminders against future fear.

REFLECTION

What evidence of God’s faithfulness do I need to remember?

What story of grace have I almost forgotten?

PRAYER

Father,

Thank You for the places where You carried me.

Forgive me for remembering my struggles more clearly than Your faithfulness.

Help me build monuments of gratitude.

When future fear returns, remind me of what You have already done.

Amen.

BENEDICTION

Receive this scriptural encouragement:

Remember.

The road behind you is not empty.

It contains evidence of My presence.

Do not walk into tomorrow forgetting yesterday’s grace.

The same God who carried you then remains with you now.
