MIDDAY BEARINGS 093: GIVE ATTENTION A HOME

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 093

SCRIPTURE

“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”

Psalm 90:12 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL

By noon, your attention may have visited many places without settling in any of them.

A message interrupts a task. Another task interrupts a conversation. The mind keeps a small part of everything open, and the present moment receives what is left over.

Ask what deserves your attention for the next stretch of time. Close what can reasonably wait. If someone is speaking with you, let them finish without reaching toward another demand. If a task needs concentration, give it a clear beginning and a reasonable stopping point.

Wise use of time is not always faster use of time. Sometimes it means arriving fully at the thing you are already doing. The hours become more truthful when your attention has a home rather than an endless list of places it ought to be.

INSIGHT

Wisdom often gives one present responsibility our attention instead of giving every responsibility a fragment.

REFLECTION

What has been dividing your attention today?

Where can you be fully present for the next few minutes?

PRAYER

Lord, gather my scattered attention. Help me recognize what can wait and give honest care to the person or responsibility before me now. Amen.

BENEDICTION

Give your attention a place to rest.

Be present where care is needed.
