DAWN WATCH 082: GIVE THE WORK A TRUE CENTER
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 082
SCRIPTURE
“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;”
Colossians 3:23 (KJV)
DEVOTIONAL
Ordinary work can become a place where we keep asking to be seen.
We want the effort noticed, the result praised, and the hidden cost understood. Recognition can be a welcome gift, but it cannot carry the whole meaning of our labor. Paul directs attention toward the Lord.
Begin today’s work by naming whom it serves. A room made ready can welcome someone. A careful answer can prevent confusion. A completed responsibility can help another person move forward. Work gains substance when love reaches its details.
Offer what is yours to do with care. You do not need to inflate its importance or make it a verdict on your worth. Let faithfulness give the task its center before applause is possible.
INSIGHT
Work offered to God finds meaning in faithful service beyond the visibility of the worker.
REFLECTION
Where has recognition become the measure of your effort?
Whom can today’s ordinary work serve?
PRAYER
Lord, give my work a true center. Help me serve with care and integrity, and keep my worth from rising or falling with the notice I receive. Amen.
BENEDICTION
Offer the work before seeking the applause.
Care gives ordinary labor weight.
