DAWN WATCH 083: MAKE A LITTLE ROOM
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 083
SCRIPTURE
“Use hospitality one to another without grudging.”
1 Peter 4:9 (KJV)
DEVOTIONAL
Hospitality begins with room, not with perfection.
We may postpone welcome until the house is finished, the schedule is clear, or we can offer something impressive. Peter’s instruction is simpler and more searching: receive one another without resentment.
Consider the room you can honestly make today. It might be a place at the table, a walk with someone, a listening conversation, or a message that invites another person out of isolation. Welcome does not need to exceed your means to become real.
Ask God to free your attention from how the offering will look. Let the person matter more than the presentation. Prepare enough to show care, then trust that an ordinary welcome can still be a generous one.
INSIGHT
Hospitality becomes possible when care for a person matters more than the performance of hosting.
REFLECTION
Who could receive a simple welcome today?
What can you offer within your actual time and resources?
PRAYER
God, teach me to make room with a willing heart. Free me from performing generosity, and help me offer a welcome that is simple, honest, and attentive. Amen.
BENEDICTION
Make a little room.
An ordinary welcome can carry great kindness.
