DAWN WATCH 090: BEGIN WITHOUT RUSHING
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 090
SCRIPTURE
“Be still, and know that I am God:”
Psalm 46:10 (KJV, excerpt)
DEVOTIONAL
A quieter morning can reveal how accustomed we have become to hurry.
Even without an urgent demand, we may reach for a screen, a chore, or a new problem to solve. Activity can spare us the discomfort of noticing how unsettled we feel.
Psalm 46 speaks of God’s refuge amid upheaval and conflict. Its call to stillness is larger than a moment of personal calm: God remains God when human strength cannot secure the world. Begin there before arranging your Saturday.
Give a few unhurried minutes to prayer. Notice what keeps trying to pull you away, and bring that concern to God rather than scolding yourself for having it. Stillness need not make the day empty. It can return the day’s activity to its proper place.
INSIGHT
Stillness helps us remember that activity is not what keeps God sovereign or us sustained.
REFLECTION
What do you reach for when a quiet moment opens?
What concern can you bring into stillness before God?
PRAYER
God, teach me to be still before You. Receive the concerns beneath my hurry and help me begin this day from trust rather than compulsion. Amen.
BENEDICTION
Begin without rushing.
God remains God before the work begins.
