EVENING EMBERS 066: WHAT THE BRANCH CANNOT DO
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 066
SCRIPTURE
“Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me.”
John 15:4
DEVOTIONAL
Night reminds the branch of its limits.
There is fruit you cannot force, growth you cannot hurry, and change in others you cannot manufacture. Exhaustion often comes from asking yourself to do what only the Vine can accomplish.
Release the results of this day. Give thanks for any fruit that appeared, confess where you acted apart from love, and entrust unfinished growth to Christ. Remaining continues in rest.
The Vine will keep supplying life while the branch is still.
INSIGHT
Rest accepts the difference between faithful participation and the life-giving work that belongs to Christ.
REFLECTION
What result have you been trying to force?
What unfinished growth can remain with Christ tonight?
PRAYER
Jesus, forgive me for carrying what belongs to You. Receive today’s fruit and today’s failures. Keep me in Your life as I rest. Amen.
BENEDICTION
The branch may become still.
The Vine remains alive through the night.
