EVENING EMBERS 080: RELEASE WHAT YOU CANNOT CARRY
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 080
SCRIPTURE
“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.”
Galatians 6:2 (KJV)
DEVOTIONAL
Compassion can keep the heart awake long after the hands have stopped working.
You remember the person whose situation did not improve, the call you could not return, or the need larger than anything you could offer. Caring begins to turn into the belief that you must keep every outcome alive by worrying about it.
Bring those people before God. Thank Him for the help you could give. Confess any promise you made carelessly and plan to correct it. Then acknowledge the limits of your part.
Bearing burdens together does not make you the savior of another life. You can love faithfully and still sleep. Entrust the person to God and to the wider circle of care that may be needed.
INSIGHT
Faithful compassion honors both the person’s need and the limits of our own part.
REFLECTION
Whose burden are you trying to carry beyond your actual capacity?
What follow-through belongs to you, and what must be entrusted beyond you?
PRAYER
God, hold the people whose needs remain tonight. Make me faithful in my part, guide them toward needed care, and release me from trying to control what I cannot carry. Amen.
BENEDICTION
Let love remain.
Let God hold what your hands cannot.
