EVENING EMBERS 083: REMEMBER THE WELCOME RECEIVED
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 083
SCRIPTURE
“Use hospitality one to another without grudging.”
1 Peter 4:9 (KJV)
DEVOTIONAL
Tonight, remember that you have also been someone who needed room.
Someone listened when your thoughts were tangled. Someone made a place when you were new. Someone accepted an ordinary meal or an imperfect house and let you know that your presence mattered.
Receiving welcome can soften the instinct to turn hospitality into achievement. We belong through grace before we learn to host gracefully. Give thanks for the people whose kindness allowed you to arrive as you were.
If today’s welcome was imperfect, learn from it without erasing its goodness. If you felt alone, bring that longing to God and consider one trustworthy connection to pursue. The need for company is part of being human.
INSIGHT
Remembering the welcome we received helps us offer belonging with humility.
REFLECTION
Whose welcome deserves your gratitude?
What connection might you receive or nurture in the days ahead?
PRAYER
God, thank You for the people who made room for me. Bless their kindness, comfort the lonely, and teach me to receive and offer belonging with humility. Amen.
BENEDICTION
Remember the room someone made.
Let received kindness become tomorrow’s welcome.
