MIDDAY BEARINGS 057: WATCH EXPECTANTLY

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 057

SCRIPTURE

“Yahweh, in the morning you will hear my voice. In the morning I will lay my requests before you, and will watch expectantly.”

Psalm 5:3

DEVOTIONAL

Expectation is different from control.

Control decides how the answer must arrive. Expectation keeps its eyes open for God’s faithfulness in forms it may not have predicted.

The request you offered this morning may remain unanswered at noon. Do not assume that silence means absence. Watch for provision, correction, restraint, a needed conversation, or strength to continue without resolution.

God’s answer may begin as something small enough to miss if you are watching only one door.

INSIGHT

Expectant prayer remains attentive without dictating the shape of God’s response.

REFLECTION

What answer have you required God to give in one particular form?

Where else might His care already be appearing?

PRAYER

Father, keep me watchful without making me demanding. Open my eyes to the forms Your faithfulness takes, and give me patience where the answer is still unfolding. Amen.

BENEDICTION

Watch with open eyes.

God is not limited to one door.
