MIDDAY BEARINGS 030: WHO IS THIS FOR?
MONDAY, AUGUST 24, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 030
SCRIPTURE
“And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men.”
Colossians 3:23
DEVOTIONAL
By midday, work can become tangled with the eyes of other people.
We notice who received credit. We wonder whether our effort is visible. We compare our pace, our role, or our results. The task remains the same, but the audience changes, and with it the spirit in which we work.
Ask a simple question: who is this for?
If the work is offered to the Lord, excellence no longer needs vanity and obscurity no longer means failure. You can do the next thing well without demanding that it establish your importance.
This does not make unfairness irrelevant. It makes human approval too small to be your master.
INSIGHT
The right audience restores freedom to the work of our hands.
REFLECTION
Whose approval has been shaping your work today?
What would become freer if you offered the task directly to God?
PRAYER
Lord, gather my divided attention. Release me from comparison and the hunger to be seen. Receive the work of my hands and make my effort honest. Amen.
BENEDICTION
Work with a whole heart.
You are already seen.
