EVENING EMBERS 030: LEAVE THE WORK ON THE TABLE
MONDAY, AUGUST 24, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 030
SCRIPTURE
“And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men.”
Colossians 3:23
DEVOTIONAL
Work can follow us home without moving an inch.
The unfinished task keeps speaking. The mistake asks to be replayed. Tomorrow’s responsibility begins borrowing tonight’s strength.
You offered what you could today. Some of it was wholehearted. Some of it was distracted. All of it can now be placed before the Lord.
Rest is not contempt for work. It is the boundary that keeps work from becoming a master. What is incomplete will still be there tomorrow, but it does not need to occupy the throne tonight.
Leave the tools on the table. Let God remain awake without your assistance.
INSIGHT
The same Lord who receives our labor also gives us permission to stop.
REFLECTION
What work are you still carrying internally?
What would it mean to set it down until morning?
PRAYER
Lord, receive what I completed and what I could not. Forgive what was careless, bless what was faithful, and teach me to stop without fear. Amen.
BENEDICTION
Leave the work on the table.
You are more than what remains undone.
