MIDDAY BEARINGS undefined: HANDS ON THE NEW TASK
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 047
SCRIPTURE
“Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us; establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our hands.”
Psalm 90:17
DEVOTIONAL
New work can make capable hands feel clumsy.
A different place, rhythm, or responsibility requires learning. Tasks once automatic now demand attention. Frustration whispers that difficulty means you do not belong.
But hands become skillful through faithful use. The prayer is not “Make me instantly finished.” It is “Establish the work of our hands.”
Give yourself permission to be a beginner where the work is new. Ask questions. Make the correction. Try again without contempt for the learning process.
INSIGHT
Humility allows our hands to learn without turning inexperience into shame.
REFLECTION
Where do you feel clumsy or inexperienced?
What would patient faithfulness look like in that task?
PRAYER
God, bless these learning hands. Keep frustration from becoming shame, and pride from refusing help. Establish skill through patient and honest work. Amen.
BENEDICTION
Let the hands learn.
Beginnings are not failures.
