DAWN WATCH 031: TEND THE SPRING

SCRIPTURE

“Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life.”

Proverbs 4:23

DEVOTIONAL

A spring can look clear at the surface while something upstream is clouding the water.

Scripture tells us to keep the heart because life flows outward from hidden places. Words, reactions, habits, and choices do not begin in public. They rise from loves, fears, wounds, and loyalties that have been gathering below the surface.

Guarding the heart is not building a wall against the world. It is paying honest attention to what is being permitted to shape you.

Before the day carries you outward, look inward with God. Notice what is restless. Notice what is hungry. Notice what has begun to harden. Bring the source into the light before it becomes a current.

INSIGHT

We cannot tend every outcome, but we can keep returning the hidden spring to God.

PRAYER

God, search the hidden places from which my life flows. Clean what has become clouded, soften what has hardened, and teach me to guard my heart without closing it. Amen.
