DAWN WATCH 032: BE STILL BEFORE YOU MOVE
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 26, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 032
SCRIPTURE
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Psalm 46:10
DEVOTIONAL
Stillness is not the absence of responsibility. It is the refusal to carry responsibility as though everything depends on you.
The mind can begin running before the feet reach the floor. It rehearses conversations, arranges outcomes, and tries to solve hours that have not arrived. The body is in the morning, but the heart is already fighting the afternoon.
God interrupts that private rush with a command and an invitation: be still, and know.
Stillness makes room for reality. God is God. You are loved. The world is held. The next faithful step matters, but it is not the throne upon which creation rests.
INSIGHT
We move more faithfully when we first remember who remains sovereign while we move.
REFLECTION
What future moment are you already trying to control?
Can you release it long enough to become present to God now?
PRAYER
God, quiet the part of me that rushes ahead to secure every outcome. Teach me to begin from Your sovereignty rather than my fear. Hold what I cannot yet reach. Amen.
BENEDICTION
Be still before you move.
God has not left the throne.
