MIDDAY BEARINGS 034: WHEN GOODNESS FEELS SMALL

FRIDAY, AUGUST 28, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 034

SCRIPTURE

“Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up.”

Galatians 6:9

DEVOTIONAL

By now, the week may have reduced your sense of what is possible.

You may not have strength for a grand gesture. Perhaps all you can offer is one truthful reply, one restrained reaction, one completed duty, one more prayer.

Do not confuse small goodness with meaningless goodness.

A seed is small because it carries its future in hidden form. Faithfulness often looks unimpressive at the moment it matters most. God is not embarrassed by beginnings, repetitions, or work that grows slowly.

Do the good that fits inside this hour. Leave its multiplication to Him.

INSIGHT

Weariness becomes dangerous when it persuades us that only visible results are worth our obedience.

REFLECTION

What modest act of goodness is still available today?

Have you dismissed it because it seems too small?

PRAYER

Father, meet me in my weariness. Keep me faithful without making me frantic. Receive the small good I can offer and give its hidden life to Your care. Amen.

BENEDICTION

Offer the small seed.

God knows what it carries.
