DAWN WATCH 059: WHEN THE WIND RISES

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 059

SCRIPTURE

“He awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ‘Peace! Be still!’ The wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”

Mark 4:39

DEVOTIONAL

Storms do not always announce themselves in advance.

A day can begin quietly and change with one message, one expense, one difficult report. The disciples knew the boat and the water, yet the wind still exceeded their skill.

Their limit became the place where they called for Jesus. Not because their effort was meaningless, but because the storm was larger than their control.

If the wind rises today, remember who is in the boat.

INSIGHT

Faith does not guarantee calm conditions; it remembers Christ’s presence when conditions exceed our control.

REFLECTION

What storm are you already anticipating?

How can you remember Christ within it rather than imagining yourself alone?

PRAYER

Jesus, remain near when the wind rises. Give me wisdom to act, humility to call for help, and faith that does not confuse the storm with sovereignty. Amen.

BENEDICTION

The wind may rise.

Christ remains in the boat.
