MIDDAY BEARINGS 065: MERCY STILL REMAINS
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 065
SCRIPTURE
“It is because of Yahweh’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3:22–23
DEVOTIONAL
A difficult morning can make new mercy feel already spent.
Perhaps patience broke, plans changed, or an old fear returned. We can treat God’s compassion like a daily allowance we used too quickly. Scripture does not describe mercy as that fragile.
Return without calculating whether you deserve another welcome. Confess what needs confessing. Ask again for help. The faithfulness praised in Lamentations is not measured by our flawless use of the morning.
Mercy remains available in the middle of the day.
INSIGHT
God’s compassion is not consumed by our early failures; it keeps making return possible.
REFLECTION
Where have you assumed you already used up today’s mercy?
What honest return is available to you now?
PRAYER
Father, I return without excuse and without despair. Meet me again with compassion, repair what I have damaged, and guide the rest of this day. Amen.
BENEDICTION
Mercy still remains.
Begin again from where you are.
