MIDDAY BEARINGS 068: WHEN PEACE MUST DECIDE
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 068
SCRIPTURE
“Let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body, and be thankful.”
Colossians 3:15
DEVOTIONAL
Peace sometimes has to make a practical decision.
It may ask you to stop a circular argument, postpone a rushed commitment, tell an uncomfortable truth calmly, or accept that another person’s reaction is not yours to control.
Notice which option requires inner violence to maintain. Christ’s peace is not the same as comfort, but it will not ask you to become dishonest, cruel, or frantic. Let peace serve as an honest witness while wisdom weighs the choice.
The quiet bearing can still point toward a costly road.
INSIGHT
Peace is not always the easiest option; it is the settled rule that keeps fear and hostility from deciding for us.
REFLECTION
Which decision is disturbing your inner steadiness?
What choice allows truth and peace to remain together?
PRAYER
Jesus, rule this decision with Your peace. Keep me from choosing merely to escape discomfort, and lead me toward truth without hostility or fear. Amen.
BENEDICTION
Let peace participate in the decision.
Quiet does not mean cowardly.
