MIDDAY BEARINGS 070: A HEART OF WISDOM
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 070
SCRIPTURE
“So teach us to count our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
Psalm 90:12
DEVOTIONAL
Wisdom is more than efficient use of time.
A full schedule can still avoid what matters, while a quiet hour can become deeply faithful. The psalm asks God to shape the heart through awareness that our days are numbered.
Pause and ask what deserves your remaining attention. Perhaps wisdom means finishing the task. Perhaps it means setting it aside to listen, worship, apologize, or rest. Numbering the day helps lesser demands return to their proper size.
Let mortality clarify love rather than produce panic.
INSIGHT
Numbered time becomes wisdom when it clarifies whom and what we are called to love now.
REFLECTION
What has occupied time without deserving your deepest attention?
What act of love belongs in the hours that remain?
PRAYER
God, give me a wise heart within limited time. Clarify what matters, release what does not, and make the remaining hours an offering of faithful love. Amen.
BENEDICTION
Let the numbered day clarify love.
Wisdom knows what deserves the hour.
