MIDDAY BEARINGS 081: TRUTH WITH AN OPEN HAND
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 081
SCRIPTURE
“If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.”
Romans 12:18 (KJV)
DEVOTIONAL
Making peace does not require pretending that nothing happened.
A hurt may need to be named. A commitment may need to be clarified. A repeated pattern may require a firm limit. Silence can preserve the appearance of peace while leaving the relationship without truth.
Speak plainly about what you know. Describe the action and its effect without assigning motives you cannot see. Ask for what is needed and listen to the answer. If repair is possible, make room for it.
An open hand does not mean an unprotected life. It means refusing to turn the truth into a weapon. You can remain clear about a boundary while releasing the demand to win every exchange.
INSIGHT
Truth serves peace when it seeks understanding and repair instead of humiliation.
REFLECTION
What needs to be said clearly rather than avoided?
Which accusation could be replaced with an honest description?
PRAYER
God, guide my words toward truthful peace. Keep me clear about what matters, careful about what I assume, and willing to listen without abandoning needed boundaries. Amen.
BENEDICTION
Speak the truth with care.
Leave room for the work of repair.
