FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2026 • PILGRIMAGE DAY 096
SCRIPTURE
“Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.”
Psalm 34:14 (KJV)
DEVOTIONAL
A conflict can be sustained by people who are not in the original conversation.
A repeated detail becomes sharper. A guess becomes an explanation. The listener becomes another witness to a story they cannot verify. We can add fuel while telling ourselves we are merely keeping someone informed.
Before passing a story along, ask whether sharing it serves a legitimate responsibility or simply extends the frustration. You may need advice or appropriate support. Seek it with care for accuracy and with only the details that are needed.
Pursuing peace can include refusing an unnecessary audience for someone else’s failure. Speak directly where it is wise and safe to do so. Keep what is uncertain marked as uncertain. Let your next conversation reduce confusion rather than multiply it.
INSIGHT
Peace is served when we distinguish necessary counsel from the needless circulation of conflict.
REFLECTION
What purpose would your next retelling actually serve?
Which detail do you know, and which part are you assuming?
PRAYER
Father, guard my speech about others. Help me seek wise support without spreading needless harm, and keep me truthful about the limits of what I know. Amen.
BENEDICTION
Do not give the conflict unnecessary fuel.
Let truth travel with restraint.
